Children’s Lantern Parade

5:30pm Saturday Evening December 5th, 2015

Do you remember the magic of Christmas when you were a child?  The sights, sounds and pageantry made your heart leap with joy and expectation.  Rekindle that sense of childlike wonder when the Village of Pinehurst is illuminated by the flickering light of dozens of lanterns. This kind of Christmas magic can only be found in the charming Village of Pinehurst.  You will feel as if you have stepped right into a Christmas story where a little European tradition comes to life at the children’s lantern parade.

Cap off a day of shopping in the Village as the lantern parade begins at 5:30 pm on Saturday evening, December 5.  All children are invited to participate in the Parade.  Pre-purchase your lantern hereThe Lantern Parade is patterned after an Old World tradition is an especially beautiful event featuring the boys and girls, marching through the heart of the Village at dusk with lanterns as their only guide.   As the children pass, spectators are beckoned to join the caroling and follow the lantern bearers as they wind their way through the Village and end at Tufts Memorial Park.  Here the lantern carriers encircle the green providing soft light and a magical setting.

Listen closely, as the caroling ends you will hear the retelling one of our favorite stories of the season. Then delight in the scene as before you as a traditional Nativity scene comes to life as the story unfolds making the night even more magical.

All children are invited to participate in the Parade.  Pre-purchase your lantern here and decorate it before the big night, or bring your own lantern (battery lights only please), a limited number of lanterns will be available on Saturday night.

Parade line-up begins at 5:00pm in front of the Pine Crest Inn with the step of at 5:30 pm.
